After cake and spinning round, round the merry-go-round we walked, ahh stumbled across the street to the beach so the kids can run around a little more before for baths and bed.

To See or Not to See, before the wedding.

I was doing a little Blog Reading and I can across this post by RELENTLESSBRIDE on Blogger Bride at getmarried.com.

We have had many Brides ask about meeting before the Ceremony and we love it for many reason but do understand tradition. But where do those tradition begins. While most of the Wedding traditions come from a very very long time ago, and we see that some might be out of style..

So here is the tradition about it being "Bad Luck" to see each other before the wedding:

"The tradition holds to the idea that in ancient times, often the first time the bride and groom saw one another was at the actual ceremony b/c many marriages were arranged. Thus, in fear that either the bride or groom would reject the other prior based on disliking the other's looks, they were kept from seeing one another until the actual ceremony. Also, the veil was used to hidden the bride's face until the actual ceremony was done and the legalities were sealed with a kiss at which point, it was too late to change your mind. Thus, they say it is bad luck to see each other before the actual ceremony. As one blogger puts it "So the tradition that it’s “bad luck” for a man to see his bride before the ceremony really started out as insurance for her dad (b/c he had arranged the marriage of his daughter with a stranger)"

Reasons why many people are going the "non-traditional" route and seeing each other pre-ceremony:

* The wow moment can still be there as when you walk down the aisle, except in
this private moment, the bride and groom can truly enjoy it with full
emotion and the privacy of holding on to that moment between the two.
* Photographs can be taken of immediate family, friends and bridal party.
This can help make the after ceremony photo session shorter, and give the
bride and groom a chance to enjoy the cocktail hour with their guests.
* Getting the photographer to focus on "the moment" that the bride and groom see
each other. The Bride and Groom can also pick the scenery in which these
pics will be taken... this can give this set of photos a more artistic
scenery while also maintaining the pictures from the actual ceremony.
* It can alleviate the "stress" of seeing one another making the moment more
enjoyable and less stressful during the ceremony.
* Enjoy the photo shoot without worrying about the guests or that you are missing
out on the cocktail hour
* You feel fresher. Make up, hair and etc are all fresher. And if its earlier in
the day, it could be cooler depending on which season you have your wedding in
* Technically, last minute details can be discussed - although this is not so
romantic, it can definitely help in the practicality aspect.

The part that appeals most to me is that the photographer can really capture the moment (and the immediate moments that lead to) the first moment we see one another. It really can be more romantic and dramatic this way, b/c the wow factor would still be there but there will would also be less distraction!"

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

We shot a beautiful wedding over the weekend and will be posting some images soon.

Amy and Sony's Love Shoot

I just met Amy and Sony over at Mount Auburn Cemetery a few hours ago. We took a walk and talked about their wedding, which is in 2 days. I've never been over at Mount Auburn but I'm glad they suggested it. There is this tower in the middle, atop a hill where you can climb to the top(a little dizzying a good workout) for an amazing view of the city and all of Cambridge. Here are a few of the images, I'm still editing now but wanted to share these. You two were great! Didn't look nervous to me.

Michaela's Senior Session for Pembroke HS 2009!

Michaela was so much fun to shoot! She giggled the entire time and said she didn't know how to pose and is totally not a model. Uuuummm, we think not. I don't even know which one is my favorite. Oh, besides the fact that she jumped up on a horse and laid across it with flip flops and no helmet... made her a pretty awesome model! Yeah, and how she layed down on a dirty stable floor in her new dress just to get the shoot, again, pretty awesome modeling! We had lots of laughs, especailly our tag line of the day, "Rockin the hay in Pembroke, MA" Uh, you had to be there. Michaela even showed off a little bit of her cheerleading skills. You rock Michaela!!!

Trish and Bill's Love Shoot in Cohasset MA

My Big Brother is getting married! And I couldn't be happier with who he chose. Trish is a super nice and easy going girl and she fits so well into the family. I know this sounds cliche, but they just might be the perfect couple. Trish really wanted a beach setting for their engagement pictures, but with their crazy schedules, it was hard to nail down a time. We finally decided on a little location in Cohasset, And it was a quick walk from our friend Bob Pattison's house... we giggled about the speed bumps... :) It was so easy to shoot them. Bill made goofy faces the entire time, which made Trish laugh... which then made Bill laugh. It was perfect, we didn't get any cheezy fake smiles, it's all real, and yes they are always laughing and joking, I told you the perfect couple. They are so photogenic and easy going! We love you guys and can't wait shoot the wedding, and be a part of it too!

First Day of School

This past Monday was the first day of school for Annabelle and first day back for Layla. The both of them couldn't wait, they were so excited they really didn't sleep the night before. Layla got her same teacher as her first year so she was ready to go when she got dropped off but Annabelle screamed like crazy. No, not because she didn't want to go to school, she just thought Layla was getting dropped off and she was going home. She calmed down after Kate told her that her classroom was around the other corner. Annabelle said bye then just went straight into the room. I think Kate was a little sad her little girl was off to school but when we picked them up Kate was all smiles peeking through the window watching Annabelle singing songs.

Here is the 5yr old off to her first day back to school. She couldn't wait to see her friends again.

Sandra and Greg's Wedding at Boston's Fenway Park! YEAH BABY!

This past weekend, James and I along with our buddy and fellow photographer, Doug Levy headed down to Yawkey Way to shoot a wicked awesome wedding at Fenway Park! Yes, every Red Sox fan's dream! Sandra and Greg love baseball and are major Red Sox fans, even if they live in Yankee territory. And nothing says "Fan" more than getting married on the third base concourse on a sunny afternoon. Both Sandra and Greg were relaxed and happy about their big day and wow they are so in love. We had so much fun, Doug played around with his fish eye lense to get some great landscape shots of the park, while James and I got down to business capturing all the emotions of the day. Tara from Tada was a big help making sure everything went smoothly and we thank her for making sure we got some cupcakes to eat ;) Yum! Sandra and Greg, you two were a super cute and sweet couple! Thanks for having us at your wedding!

Ok I totally had to put this one up. Both Andrea and John said they never wrote their names in the sand so we were like then just do it. While they then both want on a search for a stick to write in the sand. John found a little stick near by on the beach and Andrea ventured off and came back with this stick to write in the sand. Our lil' Girl is growing up

Look at how happy she is. We are so proud of her, she is a great kid and growing so fast. I some time think back and remember how small she was I can't believe it. Today we did what ever she wanted. We went to the park and both of the kids rode there bikes on the basketball court then we went over to the playground where all her friends from school were. After all the playing we when out for some lunch and got her a soft pretzel(she has been asking me for a month) finally :) Then we needed to come back home so Kate can head to coach her swim team and Layla tagged along. When the both of them returned Layla got the dinner she chose, Mac and Cheese and then got a little cake(as she will be getting 3 for one bday, today, then at my moms and her party)
She said her day was awesome ;)

While here is the shot just before the cake hit the table and we were all singing to her. Look at how happy she is. That face will make anyone happy.

Recently Mark from Pembroke High School Got Shot by The Feds for his Senior pictures.
We started off by getting his yearbook photo out of the way to make time for some shots to capture Mark and things he enjoys at this time in his life. Mark had these sweet glasses which his mother says he loves to wear. Here are some of Mark's Photos from the session rockin' the glasses.

Mark's mother Noreen thought this shed was old, but we loved the dark weathered look.

Nature is Amazing

A few weeks back The Feds Family went on Vac up at our house in NH. While on our trip home from Storyland we came across a baby moose and two black bears just off the side of the road. Since I didn't have my long lens with us, we drove back to the NH home and grabbed the lens and I ventured back out and was able to find both the moose and bears in the same area.

The Moose was a pretty small moose, but still amazing. It was hanging along side the road having it self a drink from the river. I was able to get down on the side of the road in the grass just across from the moose till it started to head my way I backed up and had to cross the road as the moose came across the road and within about 10 feet of myself tucked alongside other car.

After I when around the corner where a black bear cub and mother were hang out on the hills in this meadow. I didn't get to close but sat in the meadow ad watched the two while I snagged a few shots.

This shot the moose is about 15 feet from me, wow so beautiful.

I didn't venture to close to this Bear as the mother was just to my right on the hill

This next guy stops out back our house every night with his 3 buddies. It was pretty hard to get a shot of these guys as it was very very dark, but got a couple. And yes we totally used of camera falsh on a fox :)
