ON THE 3RD DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE....

ON THE 3RD DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE... GONNA CHECK HIS LIST AND SEE IF YOU'VE BEEN NAUGHTY OR NICE!

Remember when you were little and you whipped out the old crayola and a scrap piece of paper to write Santa a letter, well with all the technology now, Santa receives letters, emails, voicemails, instant messages and probably twitters. Our wicked awesome phone service Vonage has a special feature that allows our girls to call the North Pole and leave Santa a voicemail. What's even better is that it is then sent to our voicemail (via email) so we can listen to their little voices. Below is a quick snap shot with my little point and shoot, but it's of Layla last year playing at the Mac Store. I think next year it's going to be email for the girls rather than voicemails. So check your lists.... I am almost done with my xmas shopping WOOOOHOOOO!!!

Top of Layla's List:
Tumbles Fur Real Puppy
Diamond Castle Barbie
A $4000 cat that is genetically altered to be allergy free (Fed is allergic)

Top of Annabelle's List:
Baby Princess Auroa

ON THE 4TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE....

ON THE 4TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE.... ENJOY YOUR FAMILY!

What is the most important aspect of Christmas for us? It's spending time with family. There's nothing more fulfilling than seeing our girls eyes light up as they see what Santa has brought them. A great memory from last year's Christmas morning was Layla's excitement that Santa had eaten her cookies, she could care less about the presents... she went running for the kitchen table to see the crumbs. Anyways, the past 3 days we have been snowed in. It has not stop snowing for 72 hours and we have about 2-3 feet on the ground. So today the cabin fever just got to be too much. So it was time for family snow fun. We spent the day building a snowman, a snow fort, a snow slide and some kid tossing into snow piles. We finished off the day with a family snowball fight, of which Fed threw a cheap shot and got me in the face... but my girls tag teamed him and whitewashed him for payback! So during this holiday season enjoy your family and the moments that you share because they will soon just be memories.

ON THE 5TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE....

ON THE 5TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE... THANKS FOR THE FUNNY CHRISTMAS CARDS!!!!

I LOVE getting Christmas cards! And thanks to everyone who sent us one! I think Christmas cards really show someone's personality, especially when there's a family picture involved. But, I must admit, my favorite Christmas cards are the funny off color types. If you haven't figured it out by now, I have a dry sense of humor. So here are a few that I found that made me giggle. The last one is the BEST! If I had found it earlier, I would have sent these to everyone I know.

P.S.
It's getting close to Christmas.... AAAHHHHH.... I am so excited!

ON THE 6TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE...

ON THE 6TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE..... LET IT SNOW!

Our holiday party with our photog friends was cancelled due to the blizzard outside. I was really looking forward to karaoke and yankee swap, but Santa sent a little snow to get us in the spirit of Christmas. After all what's Christmas without at least one day of white out conditions, possible loss of power and an entire day locked in the house with cabin fever ridden kids? The forecast calls for at least 12 inches of snow for today. The weatherman said to expect about 2 inches per hour from 2pm til 1 am, maybe my math is fuzzy, but isn't that way more than 12 inches of snow???? Oh yeah, that scary looking red band on the map is heading right for us. I complain now, but I will be the first one to be sledding down a hill tomorrow when the sun is back!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

With all the Christmas commercials, this one by far is the best! Not that the Mac commercials year round aren't awesome, but this made me crack up!

P.S. Dear Santa,

I want an Apple T.V. for Christmas.

ON THE 9TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAID TO THEE....

ON THE 9TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAID TO THEE.... ENJOY YOUR NEIGHBOR'S LIGHT SHOW.

So maybe it's a bit annoying when you are trying to fall asleep and the ever glowing reindeer decor from your neighbor's roof gleams into your eyes, but hey it's just their outward expression of their holiday cheer. We went on our yearly hunt for awesome Christmas lights, we piled the whole family into a toasty car and I rocked out the kids Christmas cd, (Fed even sang along to a few songs) It was mostly a duet between myself and Layla. We went to our usual "hot spots" for awesome lighting, but we were really disappointed to see barely anyone had decorated yet.... come on people we have 9 days left! And so I have vowed to make my house that wicked awesome house with lights coordinated to Christmas music next year. Yes, I will be that neighbor. And so I say, rock on annoying neighbor with the crazy lights!!!!!

The workshop is a seminar with presentation and hands on labs, just like science class, minus the frog. When we get to the lighting setups we will let everyone in the room take a few shots with a setup to see the difference for themselves.

The workshop is limited to 10 and we got 6 people all signed up so please let us know if you are interested.

ON THE 10TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE....

ON THE 10TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAY TO THEE.... EAT COOKIES.... GINGERBREAD ICE CREAM COOKIES THAT IS!

One of my favorite treats growing up were gingerbread ice cream cookies. They were so yummy that they couldn't last the night with all the sweet tooths in my home. Here's a great recipe for you to try out as well! Happy Eating!

Ingredients

* Cookies:
* 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
* 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
* Dash of salt
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
* 1/4 cup butter, softened
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 large egg
* Cooking spray
* 1 teaspoon granulated sugar, divided
*

Filling:
* 1 quart vanilla low-fat ice cream, softened
* 1/2 cup finely chopped crystallized ginger

Preparation

To prepare cookies, lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, baking soda, ground ginger, baking powder, and salt, stirring with a whisk. Place 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed 3 minutes or until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add vanilla and egg; beat well. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture; beat at low speed until well blended. Divide dough in half; gently press each portion into a 4-inch circle on plastic wrap. Cover and chill 1 1/2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350°.

Unwrap each dough portion and place on 2 sheets of overlapping plastic wrap. Cover each portion with 2 additional sheets of overlapping plastic wrap. Roll, still covered, to a 1/4-inch thickness. Place dough in freezer 30 minutes or until plastic wrap can be easily removed. Remove plastic wrap; cut dough with a 3-inch gingerbread man cookie cutter to form 12 cookies. Place cookies 1 inch apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle cookies evenly with 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until set. Remove cookies from baking sheets; cool completely on wire racks. Repeat procedure with remaining dough and 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar.

To prepare filling, combine ice cream and crystallized ginger, stirring well. Spread 1 1/2 tablespoons ice cream on the flat side of each of 12 cookies; top with remaining cookies, flat sides down, pressing gently. Wrap each sandwich tightly in plastic wrap; freeze 4 hours or until firm.

On the 11th Day til Christmas the Feds said to thee.....

ON THE 11TH DAY TIL CHRISTMAS THE FEDS SAID TO THEE, WATCH A MOVIE!

There are so many Christmas movies, how do you decide which are the best to watch? Because we all know you can't possibly watch them all, so we have a list of our top picks. So here we go....

Fed's Top Pick: Charlie Brown Christmas (I think he sympathizes with Charlie's less than adequate Christmas tree)

Kate's Top Pick: Gremlins ( I have a sick sense of humor, Fed says this isn't a Christmas movie, but I say feed them chicken and let the holiday party begin)

Layla's Top Pick: The Grinch ( I think she thinks that she is Cindy Loo Who. And she said the classic is better than the Jim Carey version)

Annabelle's Top Pick: Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer ( We have only watched this movie about 30 times since Thanksgiving, so I wasn't surprised by her choice.)

A Fond Memory From My Childhood.... Enjoy!

It's only 7 minutes long, but it's absolutely awesome!!!! I grow up climbing the local mountain singing, kill the wabbit, spear and magic helmet with my brother and sister. Needless to say, we were a happy and well quirky family. And I wouldn't change them for the world!!!!

Cans For Comments Holiday Mission

We saw this on our Friend Jason Groupp's and Chris + Lynn's blogs this past week and now some of our Boston friends MKD and Anne Ruthmann are starting the same thing. It is such an amazing idea we thought why not help out those who need help during the holidays.

People need help more then ever, with everything happening in the US. People are losing their jobs and unable to put food on the table. Here is a video about how food banks have been seeing the increase in families needing food from CBS

Watch CBS Videos Online

So WRITE SOME COMMENTS! and we will deliver a can for every comment we get from now to this Friday 12/12 to our local food bank. And to all the other bloggers out there why not join in. Let us know you posted and we will link you too.

Click the blue link down the bottom that has the word comment in it.

And if that wasn't enough how about some cute kids asking :)

Christmas Parade

Earlier in the week the Feds all went out to Quincy for the Christmas parade. It was cold and raining but the kids had a blast watching the floats and were all smiles till the end, where the star of the show Santa was atop a fire truck.

The Feds Kids are wild

You have to watch this video my brother TJ put together. He just got a new camera for his work and was messing around playing with the in-camera slow motion and get the hang of the camera. What better subject to keep you on your toes, then a group consisting of a 2,3,4 and 5 year old.

Watch the girls right around the 2min mark they got the most genuinely happy faces as the water almost gets them. I will remember those little faces forever, that moment makes me smile.
