Bridal with MKD Photography

A few weeks back I got to go for a ride with Mike from MKD Photography down to Salve Regina in Newport, RI for a Bridal Session.
I almost posted this post a few weeks ago but thought that I better wait till after the wedding :) Kate(from MKD) told me she almost did the same ;) So, I guess I'm safe now as they posted the photos from the session on their blog

While I didn't really shoot any shoots of the bride since Mike was busy doing his thing, so I shot him. I did get one fish eye shot of her out side the Admin building of the school though.

Here it is and a few of Mike doing his thang shooting.

Elizabeth Anne Designs

Rebekah Anne and Ami Elizabeth two best friends behind an amazing blog. They have been in our google reader for a while now, as we love their tastes in design and now their tastes in Photographers. They just recently launched The EAD Library and link to us and a bunch of our Boston friends in the photography section of their Library. Thank you Girls, You Rock!

If you don't check their blog you should be if you are planning a wedding or just love design.

Melanie and Dan's Wedding

Just this past weekend Kate and I shot Melanie and Dan's wedding at the Most Holy Redeemer in East Boston, followed by their reception at Lake Pearl in Wrentham, MA. Before the ceremony begin we met Melanie up at her house along with her mother and bridemaids for some pre-cemerony coverage of their day. We love being there before the wedding, so much is going on and there are so many great moments and little details scattered all over the house. If you saw the post Hitting the Pavement from the other day you got to see me laying down in the street outside to get a shot of the Motorcycle the ringbearer carried down the isle(Photo Below).

We recently met the two of them for their Love Shoot only a few weeks ago, but we feel as if they have been friends of ours for years. Thanks so much for inviting us to your wedding.

Hitting the pavement.

So I'm always on the ground or climbing something to get a shot. I love doing what ever it takes. A least this time after finding a place I wanted to shoot, I went back and got Kate to play traffic cop. But instead she shot me, Thanks babe, I'm no speed bump.

Here I am at Melanie and Dan's wedding yesterday on the street out side their house before the wedding. Little did I know the Mother of the Bride, Sharon and a few of the Bridesmaids saw me rolling around in the street, lol. Check back in a couple days to see a few shots from the wedding.

On the Ground again

We just got back from shooting Jen and Peter's Love shoot in Boston around BU. We also got access to the roof of the President's building. What a great view of the city. We'll have some from their shoot soon.

A BRIEF GUIDE TO BRIDESMAIDS

So, during my usual blog stalking I came across this video clip " A brief Guide to Bridesmaids". Being a bridesmaid myself for my brother and soon to be sister in- laws wedding, I found this little clip amuzing. Any girl that has been a bridesmaid or will some day be one, check this out. It's cute and entertaining. The Dessy Group (bridesmaid dresses) created this to go along with their new website launch BridesmaidGuide.com

P.S. I will be wearing Sage for my dress ;)

CDIA at Boston University

Last night Kate and I had the pleasure of being invited out to the Center for Digital Imaging Arts by Lara from Studio Nouveau who also teaches workshops over at the school. We got to represent the local Photography industry with our good friend Kate Duval from MKD Photography during a question/answer networking night for the students of CDIA.

We also got to judge a business card design contest.

Here is Lara, Kate and I.

Giving Back

We really believe in giving back if you can. I know it is very hard to give as the economy is changing, yet their is still many people out there that need so much more. Kate and I have talked about giving back a percent of sales back to charity, but talk does nothing. So it's time for action.

From now to August 10th we will be supporting a family member that is walking in the Boston 3 day Breast Cancer walk that takes place August 15th-17th. After the 10th we will select a charity for the month of September and continue to do the same for months to follow.

10% of all sales and bookings will be donated to Susan G Komen for the Cure and the National philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

Feel free to donate directly at http://08.the3day.org/site/TR/Walk/BostonEvent?px=1713269&pg=personal&fr_id=1182

Thanks for anything you can do, even if you just repost or ask a friend if they can help.

Hang with the Nephews

So as you know a week ago our nephews were up from VA to visit. Since we haven't seen then in a while, except via ichat, I had to get a lot of photos. Here are just a few that I got one day at the park. I know it is only a few but I didn't change the camera to shoot jpegs till later, since I shoot raw, but my little laptop don't read d300's raw files. I'll get a few more up later.

Chris wasn't feeling that great this day but I got some awesome shots of him playing with the sprinklers. Here is a shot of Chris hanging out on a bar at the park.

Oh ya there was a party thrown for Matt while they were here, and I(yes James) baked a cake to look like a volcano. I had to post a photo cause Tony gave me a cal the night before I made the cake and asked what I was up to, and I responded doing volcano research. :) so he wanted to see what I did. Here you go Tony.

Melanie and Dan's Love Shoot

2700 miles to find love.
Melanie never thought she would be traveling 2700 miles to meet the one she is going to be marry next week. I bet if you asked Dan he would have never thought taking a trip to Vegas with his brother would end in finding the one that's right for him.
That's right, these two boarded a plane and traveled 2700 miles the same week and bumped into each other in a line in Vegas. These two were meant to find each other. Not only did they see one another for the first time in a city that is so crowded, there was a window of only a few minutes for them to cross paths. Melanie entered a line for a club and soon after Dan left the line since he didn't get in do to stupid dress code rules. That didn't stop these two. Melanie got her number to Dan's Brother and found out Dan lives in Massachusetts too. When Dan got back to MA he gave his future Bride a call. How awesome is that!

Now for the Love Shoot. We met Melanie and Dan up at the Minuteman trail in Lexington MA for only 10 minutes or less of shooting. That's right we only had about 10 minutes since a storm that none of us expected came in super fast. Since they brought along their Harleys and ride home in the rain was out the question, the four of us jumped in our car and got some dinner while the storm past. Even though we got only a little shooting in, it was great hang out at dinner with them. Hey how would we have ever learn about the Vegas story and get to know these two some much. That is way we love, Love Shoots we get to hang with some amazing couple and hear awesome stories.

Here are a few shot we came away with even thought the sky was throwing some nasty weather at us.

We also want to thank Koryn for inviting us so we can meet face to face and we were so happy to see some of our friends there too.

Here is a shot of Donna showing off the new issue.
